Our Oily Start
My sisters and I had just spent an intense amount of time caring for my mom through lung cancer to death. The burdens were heavy but processing the emotions and the loss afterwards was worse. Suddenly, I couldn’t compose myself. I couldn’t focus on my work. I was exhausted from the roller coaster of emotions and wasn’t sleeping. I had no patience and just wanted to be alone.
In the midst of grief and a downward spiral we were desperate for joy. Research on self-care practices lead us to essential oils.
I was thinking about relaxing baths and sound sleep. If I was going to be using essential oils for therapeutic purposes I wanted high quality oils. Research on essential oil companies lead us to Young Living.
While we waited for the starter kit to arrive we were introduced to a whole essential oils community that I never new existed. I read the descriptions of oils and their benefits and I discovered that other people used them to support their mood and emotions. We couldn’t wait to try them! Since then we have discovered that essential oils can support all our body systems. We are using essential oils in our daily life in many ways now. I’ve been able to feel peace and joy because of them. I use them to support ourselves physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
